And what a tease it was. I had just gotten out of seeing X-Men: Days of Future Past last night and needed to sit in my car for a little while to cool down a bit after drinking a few beers (Alamo Drafthouse theaters and all). I needed to kill some time and I chose to sift through my news feed. Was pleasantly surprised to find an ACTUAL teaser for the upcoming series of Doctor Who. And then afterward I got depressed after finding out Edgar Wright had departed from his labor of love, the upcoming Ant-Man. Ce la vie.
The teaser in all honesty tells us nothing we didn’t already know. It’s sole purpose was to remind the world “hey, I’m still here!” It only really served to confirm what’s been rumored since Matt Smith was announced as leaving the program last year – we’d be getting series 8 in August of 2014. No specific date has been set yet, but the popular belief is that it’ll premier August 30th, at 12 episodes without break.
This also confirms that Peter Capaldi is indeed the next Doctor (no doubts there), the TARDIS console hasn’t changed since Smith left (understandable), and the intro music will remain the same as series 7B. Now, the intro music may still change up a bit, but we most likely won’t know until series 8 premiers.
I plan to watch X-Men: Days of Future Past again before typing up my review, but as it stands I loved it. Stay tuned. Oh! And as a side note, this makes 100 posts for me! Will do a little dance now.
