Our first footage of Fox’s 2015 reboot of the Fantastic Four franchise is here with our first teaser. And it looks surprisingly good. This one might make a bigger splash than we were expecting guys.
The first thing that popped into my head was that this was a far more tantalizing teaser than that Ant-Man teaser we received a few weeks back. It looks as though Fox is going ahead and making it much darker than the original two Fantastic Four films. Director Josh Trank is best known for his film Chronicle, and in more than a few ways this looks to be a thematic sequel to that.
I’m wondering whether or not Fox will attempt to merge their Fantastic Four and X-Men franchises, after the success of the Avengers. This totally feels right at home with the current X-Men vibe they’ve got going on.
I noticed there were seemingly six people involved in whatever experiment will give the Fantastic Four their powers. At least, six people in those black suits were seen so I’m thinking the Fantastic Four and two additional villains? I remember Doom supposedly being a hacker from Russia, thus it probably wouldn’t be him so who were the other two? Unfortunate casualties or the villains of the flick? Very curious.

Was I the only one getting an annoying Interstellar vibe from this trailer? The little keyboard tune, tones of people in space suits and a lot of lines about how humans are explorers and whatnot. We even have a bunch of homeland on the farm vs. technology and space imagery going on. Gonna have to wait for the full trailer on this one, this teaser really didn’t do it for me.

Didn’t catch that actually, but now that you mention it I see it.

The thing I wonder… is if FOX had been sandbagging themselves on purpose all this time. This is a different look/feel than the previous FF effort, but almost nothing like the bad rumors that had been leaking prior to this clip.

I thought it would be an amazing movie if it weren’t already based on the colorful, familial FF we know from the comics. This just seems like a big departure from the vibe of the original team. It’s definitely more tantalizing than Ant-Man– and Susan looks hella more powerful here than whatever she did in the first two films :))

I think Fox has a Fant4stic-Xmen meeting scheduled. Meanwhile: I’m personally not so sure about this trailer. Better than Ant-Man, but it could absolutely pass for a generic sic-fi movie. Not necessarily a problem, but I wish there was less science and more of the characters interacting outside. Still looks way better than I was predicting, though.

I think the fact that it was way more than I expected aids to my leaning towards excitement. But I see what you mean.

Damn, love it. The best thing about this is we see each member in superhero form, without seeing too much. We get a glimpse of the Human Torch, a glimpse of the Thing. We see Mr. Fantastic and Invisible Woman. But we also get to know them as people first, with their powers being like previews. The Fant4stic are coming, but they’re not yet who they’re going to become. But it’s on its way. That’s just my overly-analytical way of looking at it. But I’m good at that.

Good points. I noticed that myself to an extent. No costumes until the very end.
