What’s up, guys! I’m back from my honeymoon and miss my commenters. So what are you reading this month? What audiobooks are you listening to? What’s on your to-read list, and what have you recently finished? Let me know!

Not a book per say but there’s words and it’s on paper and comes in really big volumes so it’s kind of like a book but with pictures in it as well. The French Aldebaran comi- I mean, graphic novel, is a really interesting take on sci-fi from author Léo. Comes in three flavors with a fourth series on the way and while I’m only two volumes in (Betelgeuse) I still highly recommend it. It would honestly make a fantastic mini series or short season series, I think… or one of those very long Stephen King movie deals where they split up over a whole week.
Anyway, fantastic stuff, the English version is published by Cinebook and while it’s censored, it’s still very, very French. 😀

I just finished reading “Murder on the Ballarat Train” (Kerry Greenwood)….I love Agatha Christie, no one can top her, but the Miss Fisher series is more fun and Australian 🙂

Haven’t heard of the Miss Fisher series. Hmm

I got an ARC for Tin Men by Christopher Golden. It’s military scifi and I’m really interested I’m going to pick it up next. This month I’m hoping to get through: Vicious by VE Scwab, Steelheart by Brandon Sanderson (I’ve been saying that for months), Siege and Storm by Leigh Bardugo, Crown of Midnight by James Sarah J Maas, Scorch Trials by James Dashner, Seraphina by Rachel Hartman and War Breaker by Brandon Sanderson. Lol we’ll see which ones I actually do.

That’s a crazy amount. But if you can do it, more power to you. Good list too,

I am currently reading Clash of Kings by George Martin, and Paper Towns by John Green. I recently finished Looking for Alaska by John Green. They are both some very talented writers.

I can only attest to George R.R. Martin, but cool! Good reads

Going to finish my current read Edge of Dark by Brenda Cooper, then I’m going to start really digging into Ken Liu’s The Grace of Kings. I started it last week, but got waylaid by a ton of distractions.

I’m about to finish the third book in the “the Hundred”-series, which got adapted for TV by the CW. After that I’m hoping to have some time to finish “Outlander” by Diana Gabaldon and then I still have the whole Infernal Devices series ahead of me.

I’m reading “Far From the Madding Crowd” by Thomas Hardy as part of the Classics Club book challenge. When that’s done, I’m looking forward to starting “Songmaster” by Orson Scott Card. Someone on Facebook recommended it because I like the Ender books so much.

Very nice. Can’t neglect the classics or the Cards!

I’m currently trying to make my way through the teenage books that are taking the world by storm, and attempting to see what the fuss is about. Namely, John Green.
Started ‘Looking For Alaska’ last night, in fact.
Done ‘Paper Towns’ (not really impressed) and ‘The Fault In Our Stars’ (made me bawl like a baby).
The Handmaid’s Tale up next, a slight change in tone I think…

I’m not usually a fan of YA literature so I can’t say I know much about any of those titles. Except for The Fault in Our Stars, which sounds like a book that would make me bawl.

oh, Geekritique, it certainly would. I am yet to meet someone who hasn’t cried at some stage when reading it.

I’m almost done reading The Republic of Thieves (lots of fun) and still haven’t decided what to read next. I might read the Assassin’s Apprentice, Blood Song, the Well of Ascension (re-read) or whatever comes up by the time I finish my current book 🙂 .. Too many good books to read..

Assassin’s Apprentice is what I’d say to go with. Just know that it’s sequels just keep getting better and more depressing. Blood Song is excellent, but I wasn’t a fan of the second book. And I still have yet to read the Mistborn series.

Thanks, yea I did hear the same thing about Blood Song today actually.. highly recommend you read Mistborn and The Stormlight Archive if you haven’t yet.

I’m on kind of a YA kick lately. In the last month I read Skullduggery Pleasant and Divergent (I know, I’m a little late to the party on that one). Now I’m reading Lockwood & Co: The Screaming Staircase, which was recommended to me by Goodreads. I don’t like it quite as much as the Bartimaeus books (which are by the same author), but it’s pretty good so far. Still, I miss the sarcastic footnotes. 🙂

Aside from Divergent I’m totally at a loss to the titles on that list. I don’t read much YA so its hard for me to keep up

Not even halfway through The Silmarillion by Tolkien! It’s a difficult read but I’m slogging through. (nothing good ever seems to happen to these poor elves)

That IS a difficult read. Especially since it was written as mostly notes lol.

I’m about to start Travelling to Infinity: my Life With Steven by Jane Hawking, as adapted into The Theory of Everything. I’ll probably review it afterwards.

Abbadon’s Gate…loving the Expanse series! Also Skylights by Luther Siler, a fellow blogger; it’s also space sci-fi, but not quite as far in the future.

Or Abaddon, if I could spell properly.

Cibola Burn, the next in the Expanse series, has to be my favorite. Good choice.

I’ve finished the anthology Chronology by Curiosity Quills this week. It’s mostly fantasy but had some sci-fi, steampunk, urban legend and others genres [includes a Piers Anthony story]. I’m on the second half of Scott Lynch’s Red Seas Under Red Skies. Probably going to start another anthology edited by Paula Guran this week [Should I go with Superheros or Monsters or Dark Fiction?]. And I have still have 3 of 5 poetry collections to read that I will be reviewing on consecutive Saturdays [in conjunction with their release dates] for National Poetry Month.

You’ve got a full plate my friend. All those anthologies sound good. I’d say Monsters!

Nice. I had Monsters set out to crack [but I think I secretly wanted you to say Dark Fantasy]. So, maybe Monsters then Dark Fantasy then Superheroes depending on what I pick up at C2E2–Chicago in a few weeks.

I’ve been thinking about reading some of the new Star Wars Novels. Have you read any of them, if so which ones do you recommend?

I haven’t read any, but I’ve only heard good things. I’d say to start with Heir to the Jedi, by Kevin Hearne.

Thanks, I’ll definitely look into that one. I’ve heard that Tarkin is really good.
