Optional viewing between seasons:

  • Constantine: Season 1 (This does not need to be placed into the chronological viewing order, because it would heavily disrupt the shows that have always been a part of the Arrowverse and its canon. Constantine, the character developed in this season, has cameo appearances moving forward in the Arrowverse.)
  • Supergirl: Season 1, Eps. 1-17 (The Flash is confirmed to visit her world in 1×18, but her universe is otherwise unaffected by the Arrowverse, and vice versa.)
  • Superhero Fight Club (This promo is actually intended to draw hype for the final episodes of Arrow s3 and The Flash s1, arriving after The Flash 1×18. This is definitely not intended to be canonical. But it’s cool. Watch it here.)

Do you know when Superhero fight club takes place? It aired after Arrow season 3 ended, but before Flash season 1 ended if I’m not mistaken. Could you help me out here, while avoiding spoilers please? Thanks.

Hey, this list has been super helpful for my Netflix binge after The Flash appeared on Supergirl. However, I found one minor error: The Flash episode 18, “All-Star Team Up”, is listed between Arrow season 3’s “Suicidal Tendencies” and “Public Enemy”, but those are back-to-back episodes with a cliffhanger and everything, along with the following episode, “Broken Arrow”. Now, in “Broken Arrow”, Felicity mentions Barry’s troubles with Dr. Wells, which indicates that “All-Star Team Up” actually takes place before “Suicidal Tendencies”.

I see you put The Flash s02e14 before Legends of Tomorrow s01e04, but it doesn’t seem to match the original air dates order…

    • I guess there were only 3 of them on The Flash, and that makes sense, cause

**SPOILERS** Ollie killed one in Season 1 **SPOILERS**

Guess they must have gotten out of jail and started anew w/ just the 3 of ’em?

Hi, I think arrow 3×19 goes before flash 1×18 because in Flash Felicity visits him and spoils the Arrow episode.
    (Spoiler Alert)
Also Felicity and Ray are already boyfriends in Flash, meanwhile in arrow 3×19 they are getting together for the first time.
    Thanks

Just learnt that the first season of the new Vixen series is going to all take place before Arrow Season 3, Episode 16 – The Offer. There are going to be six episodes in total and the first episode “Pilot” is out now.

Do you know anything about when Arrow: Blood Rush would fit into the chronology? I know it’s during season 2 but not sure of specifics.
Also do you think you could add in the comics as they’re also a little strange to fit in but are considered canon. Is ok if you can’t though.

Also thought I should let you know that Constantine is now considered canon to this universe as he will soon be crossing over with Arrow so I’m not really sure where they fit but the season 1 episodes are also a part of this now.

I won’t be putting them in, unfortunately, as there’s no way of knowing their placement. I HIGHLY doubt they’ll make Constantine the series a required watch. I think it’ll simply be a cameo appearance or three.

I had taken GEEKRIRIQUE’s post and edited it to place Constantine in the timeline myself. It should be chronological, but its pretty hard to do as there are no crossovers in the series, so I simply did it by release date, and did some research in case there were any time pointers. If you’re still interested, here it is:

  15. I can’t quite remember the details but I think the first arrow episode should go before the first flash episode.

I remember that they have a conversation over the phone in arrow 1 but Barry actually goes there after the phone which takes place in flash 1

    • Geekritique

The reason I chose to do Flash before Arrow in this instance is that the conversation between the two heroes happens at the very end of The Flash, where in Arrow it happened near the end. This gives the effect that most of the Flash happened before Arrow. That and the Flash pilot took place over a seemingly longer period of time than Arrow’s first ep of s3. Also, Flash aired the day before.

      • Kanderas

But the entire Pilot of Flash is framed as a retelling of those events from the present perspective of a conversation with Oliver. The Arrow episode really should be first despite its later air date; at the end of it, Barry rings Oliver asking to meet with him because he wants to talk with him. Then the Flash Pilot is that conversation. The stuff Barry narrates at the start of the episode is actually to Oliver, not the audience, but you don’t realise that when you watch the Pilot first.

      • I also second Arrow 3×1 taking place before Flash 1×1. I originally watched Flash first just going by air dates, and presuming that was thus the intended order. But after watching Flash and then Arrow – back to back – it was SO clear to me that I’d watched the sequence of events entirely backward, that I went looking for a fan-made chronological listing. Which then led me to this blog! 😀

Seriously, I’d say just watch those two segments alone, and you’ll see what we’re saying.

Anyway, this is a wonderful thing you’ve put together on this page – and getting better all the time thanks to the active reader feedback! Thanks! 🙂

In Arrow 2×18 Felicity talks about how “someone” get’s struck by lightning so the events in the the Flash pilot must take place just before this correct? plus this is also the same time that Iron Heights get’s fixed and reopened for prisoners Berry Visits his Father for the first time in that episode as well so that technically falls into reason that Episode A2x18 is during his 9 month coma.

  17. Hey. I’m watching Arrow and Flash following your order, and I noticed that episode 17 of Arrow takes place before The Flash ep. 18. In Flash ‘All Star Team Up’ Rey already knows that Oliver is the Arrow and his Atom suit is damaged from the events of Arrow ep. 17.

I was following the order of events based on when each episode was released and that was all screwed. So in changing it up I must have forgotten that. Thanks for bringing it up. If you find any other errors, please do let me know.

I watched The Flash 1×18 before Arrow 3×18 according to your viewing order, but it doesn’t add up. I think this is the right sequence:

Arrow 3×17 – Ray Palmer’s A.T.O.M. Exosuit is damaged during the altercation with Arrow. The episode ends with Felicity about to be shot by Maseo.

Arrow 3×18 – Episode starts with Ray Palmer saving Felicity from being shot, but is shot himself. Felicity stays with Ray in the hospital and helps him recover.

The Flash 1×18 – Ray and Felicity travel to Central City to seek assistance from S.T.A.R. labs to improve Ray’s damaged Exosuit.

If you watch Flash 1×18 before Arrow 3×18, then it kind of spoils the cliffhanger from the end of Arrow 3×17 coz you know then that Felicity is safe.

The Flash 1×18 takes place before Arrow 3×18 according to Marc Guggenheim:

However in order for everything to make sense The Flash 1×18 has to occur DURING 3×17, after Ray is cool with Oliver being the Arrow but before the final scene with the mayor.

With the problems Oliver and Roy are facing in 3×18, Felicity would not have time to leave Starling after 3×18. Also in 3×18 her relationship with Ray becomes strained but there is no sign of that in The Flash 1×18.

So the viewing order should be:

        Arrow 3×17
        The Flash 1×18
        Arrow 3×18

      • I just got caught up to episode 18 in both Arrow and Flash, and I think Hamsquash is right about Flash 18 taking place during Arrow 17. Makes it hard to watch it in order, though, with Arrow 17 ending in a cliff hanger.

Thanks for this list, by the way — it’s so helpful trying to get caught-up on these series!

  18. The thing about this is that my viewing habits tend to involve recording shows in bulk and then catching up with them all at once. Which means I have to make sure I’m in the right place for synchronicity. But it’s more fun that way.

I think episode A3x22 and F1x22 should be inversely. Why? Becouse in Flash 1×22 we see Oliver in Central city but he can’t go there in/after episode 3×22 he must go there before.

Btw, Rouge Air goes after This Is Your Sword. At the end of rogue air, firestorm, flash, and arrow team up against reverse flash. This is your sword, which is listed after rouge air in this list, is supposed to be before because Arrow is still is nanda parbat

Wait so I want the chronological order rather than the release order, so from episode 10 of both Flash and Arrow (I have also included Constantine), could you please tell me if something should be before or after the other, so I can watch it chronologically (Arrow S03, Flash S01).

      • The Flash 1×10: Revenge of the Rogues
      • Arrow 3×10: Left Behind
      • Constantine 1×10: Quid Pro Quo
      • The Flash 1×11: The Sound and the Fury
      • Arrow 3×11: Midnight City
      • Constantine 1×11: A Whole World Out There
      • The Flash 1×12: Crazy for You
      • Arrow 3×12: Uprising
      • Constantine 1×12: Angels and Ministers of Grace
      • The Flash 1×13: The Nuclear Man
      • Arrow 3×13: Canaries
      • Constantine 1×13: Waiting for the Man
      • The Flash 1×14: Fallout
      • Arrow 3×14: The Return
      • Arrow 3×15: Nanda Parbat
      • The Flash 1×15: Out of Time
      • Arrow 3×16: The Offer
      • Vixen 1×01
      • Vixen 1×02
      • Vixen 1×03
      • Vixen 1×04
      • Vixen 1×05
      • Vixen 1×06
      • The Flash 1×16: Rogue Time
      • The Flash 1×17: Tricksters
      • Arrow 3×17: Suicidal Tendencies
      • Arrow 3×18: Public Enemy
      • The Flash 1×18: All Star Team Up
      • Arrow 3×19: Broken Arrow
      • The Flash 1×19: Who Is Harrison Wells?
      • Arrow 3×20: The Fallen
      • The Flash 1×20: The Trap
      • Arrow 3×21: Al Sah-him
      • The Flash 1×21: Grodd Lives
      • The Flash 1×22: Rogue Air
      • Arrow 3×22: This Is Your Sword
      • Arrow 3×23: My Name Is Oliver Queen
      • The Flash 1×23: Fast Enough

      • There is no evidence saying that release order with Constantine had any bearing on chronological order, since his inclusion in the Arrowverse wasn’t until after his first season. Trying to place his episodes chronologically would be kind of a waste, because it would severely disrupt the flow of Arrow and Flash. My suggestion? Watch Constantine before season 2 of the Flash/season 4 of arrow.

Constantine isn’t a necessary watch. The character gets re-introduced on Arrow. Everything else is in the correct order except Vixen: Season 1. That takes place after Arrow 3X12: Uprising but before The Flash 1X13: The Nuclear Man. Placing it where you did puts it in between The Flash 1X15 and 1X16, which is impossible since 1X16 takes place immediately after 1X15 (Barry time travels at the end of 15).

There was a comment previously that added a correction that I think you’ve overlooked due to the main part of the comment being throwing Constantine into the mix.
        Currently you have
        • Arrow 3×17: Suicidal Tendencies
        • The Flash 1×18: All Star Team Up
        • Arrow 3×18: Public Enemy

        But this makes more sense
        • Arrow 3×17: Suicidal Tendencies
        • Arrow 3×18: Public Enemy
        • The Flash 1×18: All Star Team Up

I say this because I watched it the way you have it currently listed and the Flash episode doesn’t make sense between A17 & A18. That order leaves you unclear of the aftermath of A17 with the characters who appear in F18. Given it’s resolved in A18 and knowledge of A17 events is briefly mentioned in F18, this would be the more appropriate order.
