Doctor Who Series 9 – Here’s What We Know So Far

The new series of Doctor Who begins in just over a month now, on September 19th. Are you ready? Are you caught up on last season? If not, perhaps now’s a good time to do so. I think I’ll have to give the previous season a rewatch in the weeks. In my review, I examined 8 themes from Doctor Who series 8, which you can find here.

Before we break down what we’re to expect from the new season, though, let’s get back in the mindset by watching the new trailer again.

Probably one of the best trailers we’ve had in a while. Perfect balance of spooky, intrigue, and excitement. Great score too, I wonder if that was Murray Gold.

  1. A nice overview of what we know so far and a few pieces of casting there I’d somehow missed. Can’t wait to see these stories and see what’s in store. It’s going to be a long month…

  2. Thanks for the info. I wrote up my thoughts on the trailer after seeing it the first time, and I’m still of the opinion that this series is going to ask the question of whether or not the Doctor still saves people.

I’m glad they’re addressing why the Doctor looks like Lobus Caecilius, but what would be really impressive is if they could also explain why Amy Pond was in Pompeii too.

  3. Looking good! Love the mix of writers, castles, explanation of why the Doctor has someone else’s face – or does he? – seeing more of Kate Stewart, and finding out who Maisie’s character really is.

Loved last season, hardly a dud in there at all, and I thought Capaldi’s Doctor and Clara made a good team. Good excuse to look at Season 8 again, too.

  4. Interesting… I am looking forward to the new series. I thought last series was a step up. I liked Matt Smith, but too often he was saddled with less-than-stellar scripts to carry… I thought Capaldi did a good job and was generally given stronger stories.
