The first trailer for Justin Kurzel’s Assassin’s Creed film, starring Michael Fassbender, dropped a few days back on Jimmy Kimmel. I’m on vacation, so I’m only just now getting to post about it. Chances are, you missed it also. Check it out now! (And I’m sorry in advance about the choice of song they went with.)
See, what did I tell you about the song? Kanye West really has a way of taking a person right out of the Spanish Inquisition mindset. Oh well. Despite it, the film looks really great. It isn’t an adaption of any game in the series, but rather an extension to the story, fitting somewhere within the canon Ubisoft has built within the Assassin’s Creed storyline. I really like the new animus machine. Here’s the film’s official synopsis:
Through a revolutionary technology that unlocks his genetic memories, Callum Lynch (Michael Fassbender) experiences the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain. Callum discovers he is descended from a mysterious secret society, the Assassins, and amasses incredible knowledge and skills to take on the oppressive and powerful Templar organization in the present day.

Never got into the game but the movie looks interesting,

Yeah, when I first watched it that Kanye song really really ruined it, like yanked me right out of the moment. Luckily this being the Internet, some people put together alternatives like this one: https://youtu.be/VPtgtMoggzg . It’s mixed with original game music, doesn’t quite fit but is way better than the original.
