DCEU News

  • Deadline is reporting that Bad Robot, through it’s new media deal with Warner Bros., are developing several pitches for a Justice League Dark Universe, with both ideas for film and television. While no characters have been singled out to lead, they appear set on this being the direction their partnership is headed.

Disney News

  • Disney’s released 12 unique posters to celebrate the Lunar New Year. Notably there are a few titles in here not yet slated for release in China, but the marketing is interesting regardless. The films with unique posters, some of which are being released under 20th Century Studios, are: Onward, Mulan, The New Mutants, Black Widow, Soul, Free Guy, Jungle Cruise, The King’s Man, Death on the Nile, Eternals, Raya and the Last Dragon, and West Side Story.
  • A Bambi remake is on the way, with Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Lindsey Beer penning the script. It’ll be produced by Depth of Field, the team that’s also currently working on a Pinocchio film. It’s supposed to be a companion piece of sorts to Disney’s live-action looking Jungle Book and Lion King remakes.
  • Oscar-winning filmmaker Robert Zemeckis is on board to helm a Pinocchio live action film. According to Deadline will direct and co-write the next draft of the script alongside Chris Weitz and the film may begin production by the end of 2020. The casting for the film is ongoing.
  • For the Peter Pan & Wendy film, it appears the character Tiger Lily will feature as a more prominent character, and they’re looking to cast an actress age 18 to 25 of Native American or First Nations nationality.

Doctor Who News

  • Jodie Whittaker claims to be helming a third season as the titular 13th Doctor for Series 13, as she told Entertainment Weekly. “Yes, I’m doing another season,” she confirms. “That might be a massive exclusive that I’m not supposed to say, but it’s unhelpful for me to say [I don’t know] because it would be a massive lie! [Laughs] I absolutely adore it. At some point, these shoes are going to be handed on, but it’s not yet.

Marvel News

  • Wyatt Russell was spotted filming as U.S. Agent for the Falcon and Winter Soldier series this past week, according to set pictures by Page Six. The shield that Steve Rogers handed to Sam Wilson appears to have been taken from him and given to John Walker. The character was first introduced in 1986’s Captain America #323 as Super Patriot, eventually became Captain America for a brief time and eventually took on the mantle of U.S. Agent. Whether he’ll portray an antagonist in the Falcon and Winter Soldier show, we don’t fully know yet.
  • Captain Marvel 2 is set to take place in the present day (whether thats present day our time or Marvel time, remains to be seen). Expected release of 2022. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film gains a writer in Megan McDonnell, who’s done work on WandaVision, but loses the writing/directing duo of Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck who wrote and directed the first film. Marvel is looking for a female director to helm the series, and the previous director duo are believed to be helming an upcoming Disney+ series.
  • Marvel cancels production on 2 animated series that were set to air on Hulu, according to Variety, that being Howard the Duck and Tigra & Dazzler. M.O.D.O.K. and Hit Monkey are still reportedly moving forward, but this does mean that their team-up show, ‘The Offenders’, may not happen. It was previously reported that the Tigra & Dazzler showrunner, Erica Rivinoja and the writing staff had left the project due to creative differences.
  • Speaking of M.O.D.O.K., it appears that Patton Oswalt, writer for the series, will also voice the character. Interestingly, it appears that in the posting they also revealed that the new banner for Marvel TV under Marvel Studios will be titled ‘Marvel TV Studios’.
  • Bleeding Cool’s sources are claiming that two previously unannounced Marvel series are in development. The First being a Secret Invasion series, which could be huge, and the other is a potential character based show off of a side character from the films, but remains unnamed.
  • Sparky the Android Dog has been teased by Vision comics writer, Tom King, as appearing in the WandaVision series.
  • Some Loki hearsay from Murphy’s Multiverse could suggest that there will be a second season of the series, as its rumored that some actors are written into multiple season contracts.
  • The Illuminerdi are claiming that a casting call for a Hispanic Actress has gone out to have a significant role in the Doctor Strange: In the Multiverse of Madness film. They claim that this could mean that America Chavez may make her entrance in the MCU through this film. This is leant some weight in the fact that her character originally hails from an alternate reality. They’re also claiming that Brother Voodoo will make an appearance in the film, as a casting call for a Caribbean actor of Haitian descent has been made.

Star Trek News

  • While visiting her talk show, The View, Patrick Stewart invited Whoopi Goldberg to reprise her role as Guinan on Picard Season 2, in an official capacity. It clearly wasn’t a planned segment, and Whoopi appears genuinely verklempt, but she says yes!

  • A Knights of the Old Republic game, which was previously rumored to be in the works around 2015, is now reportedly on again! While this is still a rumor, Cinelinx’s sources claim that this could be a remake or a sequel. More details soon, hopefully.

Uncharted News

  • Sony’s Uncharted film has been in gestation for many years now, but shortly after the 6th Director for the project bowed out, the studio announced Friday that it was pushing their release date back from December 18th, 2020, to March 5th, 2021, which was the original date that the cancelled Masters of the Universe film was set to drop.
