Legends of Tomorrow was announced a few weeks back and I have yet to truly voice an opinion on the matter. Naturally my first inclination was to jump to the assumption that they’re taking a good thing and going too far, this being the third show in the “Arrow-verse” canon. But I wanted to backtrack that thought a bit so as to see where this series would actually take us. As a side-note, my opinion here should be taken with a dose of salt – I’m not caught up with either Arrow or the Flash. That said, the trailer released today has blown me away. Check it out NOW:
Yeah. I really need to catch up on both Arrow and the Flash. (As I shall be, as I’ll be featured on The 52 NOW! in a couple weeks to discuss them on their podcast). This looks top notch in both action and cheese humor. I’m looking forward to seeing what this show has to bring to the table. It’s also a great way for them to keep track of the characters that aren’t directly affiliated with Arrow or the Flash, and give them something to do.
The title ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ may sound a bit wonky at first. It did to me anyway. But it appears that the show will feature heavy time-travel elements. Arthur Darvill (no rookie to time-travel himself) will be playing the time-traveling Rip Hunter, who goes back in time to partner up with heroes to prevent an event in the future from ever occurring. In his time these heroes are actually considered ‘legends.’ But still, why not call it ‘Justice Society’ or something? My guess is they don’t have the rights to the name?
The primary antagonist will be the immortal Vandal Savage, as mentioned in the trailer.
The cast also includes Brandon Routh (Atom), Caity Lotz (White Canary), Ciarra Renee (Hawkgirl), Victor Garber (Dr. Martin Stein), Wentworth Miller (Captain Cold), and Dominic Purcell (Heat Wave).
I have clearly not been paying DC’s TV series enough attention. This must be rectified, and fast!

I kept thinking they were going to bring Sarah back… glad they did… and I’d definitely watch this… so far both Arrow and Flash have been awesome so I’d have to give this a shot at least… but when you start out with a group like that even with the build up from other shows it really depends on how well they play off each other… some casts just mesh better than others… you know?

That’s a great point. They need to play well off each other.

Me? Excited? PAH! Perish the thought. I mean, it looks kinda rough but at the same time it’s hard to get a grasp on everything and it seems like much of this is just taken from the first episode, possibly one or two more so it’s kinda… sketchy at the moment. Obviously there’s still a lack of polish (it’s not going live for another six months or more) and there’s much we still don’t know but I am so looking forward to this.
Seriously, if someone told me I’d prefer watching TV heroes over hero movies a few years ago, I’d say they were insane but here we are.

I need to warm up to this more….and also guilty of not tracking Flash/arrow.

Yeah I stopped watching both at the mid-season break. Not by any lack of interest on my end. I think both shows are excellent. But life gets in the way.

This looks really good. I hoped it would be… once I knew Rip Hunter was a part of it, and I liked the casting of Darvill too… but this looked even better than I would have imagined it. As much as I like Arrow and now Flash, this one has the potential to outshine them both! Vandal Savage is a great villain too… wonder who they cast for that?
They definitely are going to have a lot to do to set this up next year on Flash and Arrow, though… from the looks of that trailer, there is a lot of stuff to catch up between where we are now and where that thing kicks off.

I’m sure they will be up for the challenge. And I think this starts midseason. So there’s plenty of time for that.

I seriously couldn’t stop laughing when Darvill’s character said he was a Time Master. It was just too ironic. Looks good though!

Okay, this is awesome. I’m late to the party with this genre, so I was never part of the general population losing themselves when the first Avengers teaser came out, but this is what it’s like for me. If you haven’t seen the later episodes of The Flash, DO. Arrow, not so much. But The Flash has recently overtaken Doctor Who to become my favourite TV show. Yeah. I’m surprised to. It’s just that awesome. His chemistry with Iris really develops, and the time travel concept becomes really inventive. Dr. Wells gets SO MUCH development, and there’s this one episode, Out of Time – it’s the TV equivalent of Spider-Man 2.
So a team-up show with all those characters AND ARTHUR DARVILL? The guy who, through his entire duration of Doctor Who, was proving that he’d have been a much better choice for Eleventh Doctor than Matt Smith. And look! It’s obvious why. He’s even called a Master of Time. This is… this is a GEEK FANTASY for me! I try not to swear anymore, but it’s FUCKING AWESOME!
Honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever been more excited for a TV show than this. And I really hope Arthur Darvill can be a regular.
I can’t. I can’t. I just… I can’t. 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀

It does look quite good. And yeah, I know, I’ve really slacked with the tv series. I’ll catch up for sure. Loving the idea of Darvill as Rip Hunter too. Very, very, VERY exciting.

This actually makes him the third Doctor Who companion to make it as a integral part of the Arrow-universe.
