During a manned mission to Mars, Astronaut Mark Watney is presumed dead after a fierce storm and left behind by his crew. But Watney has survived and finds himself stranded and alone on the hostile planet. With only meager supplies, he must draw upon his ingenuity, wit and spirit to subsist and find a way to signal to Earth that he is alive.

  1. They originally had me until I heard the name Matt Damon… somehow I feel this role should have gone to a relative unknown, someone who can play the character instead of playing Matt Damon. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the trailer!

  2. Saw the trailer this morning, I’m looking forward to it so much. My only concern is that it looks much more serious than the book, with a lot of the humor not making it through. Guess they had to drama it up, and with Ridley Scott at the helm, I’m not expecting too many laughs. Too bad, since that was my favorite aspect of the book, which balanced funny and grave so well.

    1. Well, trailers play off what seems to be a films most marketable emotion. A serious film about life and death is more exciting for the general audience than a light-hearted journey on Mars. The funnier aspects may still be there. We’ve only this one trailer to go off though.
