The new series of Doctor Who begins in just over a month now, on September 19th. Are you ready? Are you caught up on last season? If not, perhaps now’s a good time to do so. I think I’ll have to give the previous season a rewatch in the weeks. In my review, I examined 8 themes from Doctor Who series 8, which you can find here.
Before we break down what we’re to expect from the new season, though, let’s get back in the mindset by watching the new trailer again.
Probably one of the best trailers we’ve had in a while. Perfect balance of spooky, intrigue, and excitement. Great score too, I wonder if that was Murray Gold.

Episode 11 is rumored to be the episode where we discover why the 12th Doctor’s face is the same as Lobus Caecilius in the series 4 episode The Fires of Pompeii.
-
Possible return of Missy. Possible explanation as to why Heaven looks the same in Deep Breathas the location Amy Pond found herself in in The Girl Who Waited.
A nice overview of what we know so far and a few pieces of casting there I’d somehow missed. Can’t wait to see these stories and see what’s in store. It’s going to be a long month…

Glad you enjoyed this! Yeah, I agree. Now that DW will be back soon I’m just itching for it to be here now.

I also heard that one scene will take place during The day of the Doctor from the Twelfth Doctor’s point of view. Not sure how they could fit that in, though…

I heard that too. Just didn’t know where the heck to fit it in!

Thanks for the info. I wrote up my thoughts on the trailer after seeing it the first time, and I’m still of the opinion that this series is going to ask the question of whether or not the Doctor still saves people.
I’m glad they’re addressing why the Doctor looks like Lobus Caecilius, but what would be really impressive is if they could also explain why Amy Pond was in Pompeii too.

Oh that would be stellar. I’d be stunned if they could find a way to answer that.

Looking good! Love the mix of writers, castles, explanation of why the Doctor has someone else’s face – or does he? – seeing more of Kate Stewart, and finding out who Maisie’s character really is.
Loved last season, hardly a dud in there at all, and I thought Capaldi’s Doctor and Clara made a good team. Good excuse to look at Season 8 again, too.

Interesting… I am looking forward to the new series. I thought last series was a step up. I liked Matt Smith, but too often he was saddled with less-than-stellar scripts to carry… I thought Capaldi did a good job and was generally given stronger stories.

I mostly agree with your sentiments. And I’m very excited for the new season. Soon. Very soon…
