Somebody Broke onto the Set of Star Wars: Episode VIII to Take Some Epic Selfies

What you’re about to see is dumb, foolhardy, and… kind of epic. Some masked and/or blurred out figures have broken onto the set of Star Wars: Episode VIII to take pictures (selfies mostly) of the Millenium Falcon. The set is at Pinewood Studios in London, and is probably very heavily guarded (making this an extra top secret operation). The location in-film is set to replicate the Jedi Steps we saw at the end of The Force Awakens, of the scenes filmed on Skellig Michael. Take a look:

Would you break onto the set of Star Wars if you knew it were being filmed near you?

  1. I think my brain would overload from standing right next to the Falcon. Pretty ballsy of this person, and it’s just harmless. Taking pics with a piece of classic sci fi history is fine. If he had gone and defaced the ship or stolen something, I’d be mad as hell and demanding this clown be lynched. Pretty sure others would be pissed too.

  3. Ha ha, cool. I remember when they were filming Star Trek at the power plant I was working at. I got to wander around the shuttle craft the crew gets on when they meet on their way to the Enterprise, as well as check out the building Kirk busts out of on his motorcycle (guess what, it was only two walls! Not even a whole building!). If you look at the popular image of Kirk looking out at the Enterprise as its being constructed you can see the water tanks and, to the right, one of the generators I used to climb up to work on (http://img.trekmovie.com/images/st09/st09sbcom/09.jpg). It was fun trying to snap pictures of the people and set, but they were pretty tight with security. I was able to grab a couple of shots while up on the tower and when driving by with my crappy phone camera (at the time). This guy went all out though! Hope he doesn’t face some kind of lawsuit or something if they find out who he is!

      1. I’ll have to see if I even still have them. They were taken on a crappy little Verizon flip phone at the time, but I do have shots of the power plant I have taken over the years. If you look at the picture in the link and the pictures I have you can see where things match up. Ill find a few and post them to my shared library, if anyone is interested in checking it out.

      2. Well I could only find one picture that didn’t have co-workers in it, and its not of the set. Ill have to look over some old CD backups to see if I can find some of those, but you can look at this and see the tower that is also in the linked image from my previous comment.

The site is called Calpine: Pastoria. It’s a power plant at the South end of Kern County in California, I think technically its in Tejon. It sits a couple of miles back off of the freeway, and the road going out there is used quite often for different things. One year I saw them out there filming an Xbox commercial with a black Lambourghini, and another time they were filming The Fast and the Furious. I got to see Vin Diesel’s big souped up car (they actually had two or three out there), along with some other high end cars from the film.

I want to say that a couple of the Calpine employees were able to make off with some different boxes and cases that were used in the Star Trek set. I wouldn’t be surprised if one of the repair guys has one mounted on his work truck to hold all of his tools. Some of them got to be extras in some of the scenes too. I’ll check at home for the shots of the set. They aren’t great, and are at weird angles, but you can tell whats there.
